Well, Rod Blagojevich. So if the state of Illinois needs a U.S. Senator appointed, then Rod Blagojevich is going to pick one. After being turned down by his first choice, Representative Danny K. Davis, a prominent black community leader, Blagojevich has chosen Roland W. Burris, the first black politician to win statewide office in Illinois, and a well-regarded former attorney general and comptroller of the state.

The idea of having Blagojevich appoint Illinois' next Senator gives Illinois' Secretary of States indigestion. He has refused to certify Blagojevich's appointment, and is being taken to the Illinois Supreme Court by Burris to force its certification.
